Memory for
your agent.

Free. Offline. Zero dependencies. Hooks into Claude Code and Codex and keeps what your agent learns — across sessions, across projects.

How it stores and recalls what matters.

Every fact your agent saves is a node. The engine links them by name, date and relevance, and recalls them with two-hop activation — no embeddings, no server, instant.

Below is the real Cortex, not a picture — a sample project’s live memory. Switch to 3D and drag to spin the brain, or type a question in the panel and watch the matching memory light up while the rest dims.

Meet the Cortex

A brain you can read.

The Cortex is the memory, drawn. Swipe through what makes it more than a database.

How it works.

No embeddings, no vector database, no API calls. The Cortex runs entirely on your machine, stores facts in a local graph, and retrieves them with two-hop activation — in milliseconds.

Your agent talks.
The hook listens.

Corvusmem installs as a PostToolUse hook in Claude Code. After every tool call, it extracts facts from the exchange — file paths, decisions, project context — and writes them to the local Cortex graph.

Store

Facts, not vectors.
Dates, not embeddings.

Each fact lands in a lightweight JSON graph with its entity name, date and temporal context. No server, no cloud, no API key. The entire Cortex is a single file you own.

Retrieve

Two-hop activation.
No semantic search needed.

When your agent needs context, the Cortex activates the matching node and spreads one hop out — surfacing related facts without a vector DB or embedding model. Deterministic. Offline. Instant.

The numbers, unedited.

Measured with Qwen3-8B running locally as both respondent and judge — the same ruler for every engine, so the head-to-head is fair. Not comparable to mem0/Zep’s official leaderboards, which use GPT-4o.

Corvusmem stores facts with explicit date and temporal context. That’s why it almost doubles mem0 on temporal recall — and why it matters for long-running agents that need to remember when, not just what.

Plug it in where you already work.

One command. No account, no cloud, no API key — the hook writes to a local file you own.
